James "Jim" H. Shaw
Attorney At Law
Personal Experience
From an early age, Jim Shaw felt called to defend the underdog. A graduate and active alumnus of the prestigious Trial Lawyers College, he is part of a dedicated group of "people's lawyers" who fight tirelessly for individuals against the overwhelming power of the government and major corporations.
Jim has litigated nearly a thousand cases and tried dozens of jury trials to verdict, securing multiple NOT GUILTY verdicts and countless dismissals in cases ranging from drug and sex crimes to violent felonies. While he focuses on major felonies, he brings the same relentless defense to any case, from misdemeanors to murder.
Jim earned his J.D. from Oklahoma City University School of Law, where he was involved in the Oklahoma Innocence Project and served as President of the Agricultural/Environmental Law Society. He played college football at Samford University before earning a B.A. in Communication with minors in History and English from the University of Oklahoma. Before returning to law, Jim worked in maritime acquisitions and development out of Fort Lauderdale, helping modernize federal Longshoreman and Working Waterfront statutes. He also spent time in the Florida Keys as a marine biology researcher, instructor, and boat captain.
Jim volunteers with youth baseball and supports Northwest Arkansas nonprofits like Potter’s House. He lives in Fayetteville, Arkansas, with his overtrained birddog, Beesly. An avid fisherman, casual bird hunter, cycling enthusiast, and an obnoxious Texas Rangers fan, Jim brings passion to everything he does—inside and outside the courtroom.
